Wastewater Treatment Plant at “SHP CELEX” A.D. Banja Luka

Project details

The project involved the design and construction of an industrial wastewater treatment plant for “SHP CELEX” A.D. Banja Luka, aimed at treating process water generated during paper production. The scope included the preparation of the Main Design, covering mechanical, electrical, civil, and hydraulic parts, as well as equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and trial operation. The plant’s design capacity allows a wastewater flow of 80–110 m³/h, with a peak load of up to 200 m³/h.

The treatment process is based on DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) technology for primary treatment, ensuring efficient removal of suspended solids and organic pollutants. The system features automated dosing of coagulants and flocculants, as well as an equalization tank with controlled mixing and pH regulation to balance flow variations from the production process. This approach enables stable and continuous operation, compliant with local and EU discharge standards.

IEE completed the design and execution of works, including mechanical, electrical, civil, and hydraulic disciplines. Despite variable wastewater inflows due to production dynamics, the challenge was effectively addressed through the implementation of an adequately sized equalization tank and an automatic chemical dosing and control system. As a result, the project achieved a significant reduction in suspended solids, COD, and BOD₅, decreased environmental impact on the receiving body, and enabled partial reuse of treated water within the production cycle — contributing to sustainability and operational efficiency.
